Mustang Selected As Nominee For AFCA Good Works Team

Linebacker to the SMU Mustangs Shaine Hailey is a nominee for the 2021 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. This award recognizes those nominated for their work on and off the field.


Hailey is apart of the Community Outreach and Donor Relations for The Detente Collective, and organization that inhabits growth for students focusing on education, homelessness, domestic violence victim support and women's issues. Hailey is also the co-leader for the Feeding Homeless Initiative within the organization.

During his four seasons playing for SMU, Hailey checked in to 43 games and made three bowl appearances. He has also register 55 tackles, and interception, forced fumble and fumble recovery. Hailey graduated from SMU with a degree in economics with financial applications and is working toward his masters in management. The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team award was created in 1992 and is one of the most coveted community service award in college football. The final team members will be announced in September, and fans can then cast their vote for the team caption on ESPN.com
