SMU crushed the Lumberjacks, 50-7
In a sold out COVID19 crowd of almost 8,000, SMU Football defeated SFA, 50-7, during their home opener. The Mustangs are now 3-0 for the second straight season.

Quaterback Shane Buechele was 14 of 25 passing for 141 yards ending just short of a touchdown for Danny Gray and Kylen Granson. SMU had a total of 5 rushing touchdowns against SFA, which came from Ulysses Bentley IV, Danny Gray, Terrance Gipson and TaMerik Williams.

After the game, Head Coach Sonny Dykes honed in on how this young team is able to adapt with the current situation they are facing.
“Young people have an ability to adapt and adjust and move forward,” said Dykes. “And I think our guys are accustomed to what we’re asking them to do. I think they understand why we’re doing it."
Bentley had 2 rushing TDs making him tied for 6th in the three-game span at SMU. Those he is tied with include Eric Dickerson and Xavier Jones. After this fire game for Bentley, we told us what his thoughts were for the home opener.
“For the first home game, it still felt like a great experience,” said Bentley . “It felt like everybody was still out there. Everybody was just having fun and having a good time.”
Going into halftime, SMU led 29-0. The Mustangs have either gone into HT tied or leading the past 12 of the 15 games.

The Mustangs are gearing up to face off against Memphis at home Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
