SMU Defeats Texas State 31-24 During Season Opener

Despite two turnovers that happened in the second-half, SMU Football came on top against Texas State, 31-24 on Saturday for season opener.

The Mustangs got a good lead late in the third quarter after Shane Buechele threw a 51-yard TD pass to Reggie Roberson Jr.

Roberson finished the game with six catches for 99 yards and Rashee Rice put up five catches for 101 yards.

This was the third time the Mustangs and Bobcats have met up with SMU now winning all three matches.

SMU was scheduled to travel across town next week to TCU, but the game was postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests within the TCU football program.
